This weekend ScoutFest was held by the Northern New Jersey Council in Mahwah, NJ and nearly 2,000 people attended. Members of Troop 17 as well as adult leaders helped out at the tomahawk throwing station. A special thank you to all the adults leaders who worked hard to enable us to have such a fun weekend.
Scouts could participate in many events that raise awareness of disabilities including shot-put and basketball in wheelchairs and obstacle course using crutches. Also, scouts participated in the pinewood derby, rocket building and t-shirt making events. Some Scouts were able to work on rank advancement as well as skills training.
The Scouts camped in wet and rainy weather, but still did great and stayed dry with excellent tent set up, even after it was dark upon arrival Friday night. The band 6 Stories Told played on Saturday night, there was a traditional Native American dancing by the Order of the Arrow, and an amazing laser light show.
Fall Court of Honor Recap
Please join me in congratulating all of the Scouts who were recognized at The Fall Court of Honor. These Scouts earned merit badges this past summer and/or were sworn into their new leadership positions. All of the Scouts were recognized for their hard and deserve much praise. Many Scouts attended Camp Turrell for a week of summer camp, while others worked individually to attain their merit badges. We congratulate them all.
Shikhar G and Ryan C have now assumed the role of Senior Patrol Leaders from Jamie S and Josh K. The Troop wishes them luck with their new position of responsibility and thank both Jamie and Josh for their dedicated service last year.
A special thank you to Matthew D and Tanish T, who were the masters of ceremony during the evening. They did a great job scripting and coordinating a fantastic evening.
